    I wonder how Larry feels being the one person there and associated with Seinfeld that was not actually on the show. Did he feel left out?

    God they totally should’ve done that last scene at the coffee shop in the finale. That would’ve given it an entirely different feel, not to mention it would’ve been hilarious. Way funnier than Jerry doing standup in prison like they did

    You can tell the rickshaw shots were all done in Los Angeles ... there are no giant hills in Manhattan ... Manhattan is totally flat ... even the exterior shots of Jerry's apartment building show a slight hill.

    I knew the end could not be far in the 8 and 9th season. When the humour and creativity of the earlier seasons were not quite there. It seemed forced rather than natural. At the time there were a few shows of the 8th and 9th season I was not happy with. Also I was not happy that they all 4 ended up in a prison cells is the last shot. I thought the last show should have been of them chatting in the restaurant cafe they hang out in New York. While the camera slowly pulls back out from the window in the night showing them still chatting as the camera continues to pull back giving a helicopter view arial view of the New York street and eventually Manhattan skyline at night. That would have been a better more creative ending deserving of a show like seinfeld and the characters. Letting us into the lives of 4 New Yorkers for 9 years. Then Camera pulls back showing Manhattan at night with the famous New York long Bridges like a Post Card ending saying The End. Like you get in so many movies. That ending was not good in a cell they could have given it a better ending like I Just described. However looking back except for that ending. After 25 years I would say nearly all the Episodes of season 8 and 9 were pretty good even though back in late 1990s I was not happy with those last seasons as a viewer. Seinfeld was one of the greatest tv shows that ever came out of America in 70 years of American produced Television and deserved a better more cinematic ending with New York in the background than we got with our 4 favourite New Yorkers in a prison cell.

    Jerry is so careful with his words on this subject. He is so complementary of Larry's choice in a way that if Larry was watching, he would feel closure about his choice. Smart guy Jerry, really thinks before he speaks.

    It's not that the finale was too big. It was that the characters were so mean! Since when would Kramer stand around laughing at anyone in trouble? And Elaine, being so nasty to Kramer--as if he'd never bought her the bench for her birthday, with that nice card, or gone out of his way to help her so many times. No, the characters weren't always likable, but their behavior when the man was being mugged was so despicable that it just didn't jive with the earlier episodes. Plus, the weirdness with the plane turbulence and the Twilight Zone vibe of them all going to prison. Sure, it was nice to see all the guest characters again, but not in this horror show. Larry David loused this up big time.

    That was a massive waste not having that final scene of them in coffee shop with George saying "Boy that was brutal", could've turned into a quick 1 minute scene of them having a quick, very nonchalant chat about their time in jail, someone suggesting they go see a movie and having them all arguing about what to watch as they get up and leave. Just end it plain and simple like that, implying that they'll always just be them

    • @nancymcmonarch
      @nancymcmonarch 11 місяців тому

      No, they brought Larry David back to write the finale, because Old Times Sake. (-‸ლ) That's how we got Elaine cussing at Kramer out of the blue instead of hugging him goodbye. That's how we got Kramer, who ordinarily would give the shirt off his back to anyone in trouble, standing on a corner laughing at the guy getting mugged. It wasn't LD's show anymore, so what did he care about continuity? Hell, he didn't even remember that the Soup Nazi and Kramer had been friends.

      @@ricknofzinger I got the impression that Jerry's big contribution was his stand-up routine at the beginning. But you're right; he should never have signed off on such a terrible finale. And Michael and Julia should also have opened their mouths too. As LD's simping enablers, they all deserve some of the blame for that mess.

    • @ricknofzinger

      @@ricknofzinger Larry's not my cup of tea, but it's not a hill to die on. Mine is clearly not the definitive opinion; lots of people love the guy, right? Anyway, I vaguely remember reading that his coming back to write the finale freed up Jerry to work on his stand-up opener, which he hadn't done in years. And Larry does seem to take a lot of pride in the finale. But the character continuity is so awful that to me it suggests someone who wasn't as connected to the show (anymore) as one might have hoped.
